FLIR Begins Shipping Fido X2 Explosives Trace Detector and Announces Online Training Courses
By Wendy Klausing, FLIR Systems
Today we announce that pre-orders for the Fido® X2 began shipping this week to law enforcement, private aviation, and security agencies around the world. The handheld explosives trace detectors will be used to counter and deter acts of terrorism. Fido X2 delivers a mobile screening solution that complements traditional security measures by making them less predictable. The ultra-lightweight system detects homemade explosives like Triacetone Triperoxide (TATP), as well as commercial and military explosives, within ten seconds at levels invisible to the naked eye.
Additionally, our online customer portal is now available. Fido X2 customers can log online 24/7 to register their device, access training resources or the knowledge base, and order consumable replacements. As part of its suite of Fido X2 training solutions, FLIR will offer live webinar-based training immediately, and begin offering on-demand, interactive web-based training by summer. These self-paced courses will enable customers to train from anywhere and reduce costs associated with training. When combined with the intuitive user interface and embedded on-device video training, the Fido X2 sets a new standard for ease of use.
FLIR will demo its Fido X2 at a number of high profile events during 2016 and will present “Asymmetric Response: how new classes of portable technology are enabling better prevention of terrorism” live at the 2016 CBRNE Convergence Asia tradeshow on June 1-2.
